The basement-dwelling internet clique receieved astonishing news today, as it exploded across the blogosphere that post-hardcore pioneers At The Drive-In were reuniting. Nowadays, At The Drive-In are known, tragically, as the band that came before The Mars Volta, who are pretty popular in their own right.

While the Mars Volta is an adequate band, their self-indulgent “art” looks downright embarassing next to At the Drive-In.

For those of us old enough to remember the explosive catharsis of At The Drive-In in their heyday, the late nineties, early 2000s, it’s a breath of fresh air. The Mars Volta are a fine band, but they’ve always lacked the explosiveness and DIY punk ethos that At The Drive-In brought to the table as they shined amongst the other “emo” bands of their era.

At The Drive-In is pretty much the one band I solidly regret having missed live; now I have my chance.

See below for youtube testimonial- truly a unique and EMOtional band whose career ended far too soon.
