This holiday season the Monson-based Greene Room Productions offers not one but two performances of Arctic intrigue. The first is an adaptation of Chris Van Allsburg’s classic children’s book The Polar Express, in which a doubting boy winds up at Santa’s North Pole in his pajamas by hopping a northbound train (the story was also adapted into the 2004 film starring Tom Hanks). Secondly, Greene Room’s Fall Workshop performers present The Legend of Polar Mountain, a story about a girl and her brother who visit a magic mountain where they meet a giant snowman, a snow princess and other memorable winter characters.

Dec. 15, 7:30 p.m., Tess Pelissier Auditorium, Granite Valley Middle School, 21 Thompson St., Monson, (413) 668-7284, www.greeneroomproductions.com.
