“Scott” is F. Scott Fitzgerald. “Hem” is Ernest Hemingway. The Garden of Allah is a star-infested apartment building in Hollywood where Fitzgerald holed up for a spell in the 1930s and where, in Mark St. Germain’s new play, Scott and Hem in the Garden of Allah, he and his fellow novelist and literary rival are imagined to have engaged in “a humorous and heated exchange about the cost of love, friendship and the price of being a writer.”
