In a high window on the front of Eastworks, the former mill building in Easthampton, there’s a sign that says, on some days, “OPEN.” On other days, it says “NOPE.” Wind your way through the staircases and corridors of Eastworks to find what resides inside that window, and you’ll find The Invisible Fountain, the large gallery and studio where painter Luke Cavagnac offers his works for sale.

Cavagnac’s approach is different from most artists’. You won’t find massive canvases or massive prices here. Instead, you’ll find the walls lined with a sprawling, impressive array of paintings small and large. They’re done with bright, simple colors, without a lot of nuance in shading or rendering, and they’re often cartoon-like in feel. That style enables Cavagnac to produce work at a remarkable rate, so much so that he offers a “painting of the month” club to subscribers, and his walls are seldom less than overwhelmingly full.

His is a refreshing take on the art gallery, one that aims for his motto: “Art for all.” You can check out the latest batch of Cavagnac’s work in his current show, Paint Misbehavin’.
