In the latest news from the Valley music world, Gone By Daylight’s Eric Paquette checked in to report that while recording their latest single, “Anywhere Away From You,” at L.A.’s infamous Village Studios, he inadvertently gave the cold shoulder to Coldplay crooner Chris Martin.

“I was doing vocals when, apparently, Chris sent someone in to use the mic I was using,” he says. “I said no, because I was in the middle of tracking and didn’t realize it was Coldplay next door. I may have let it slide if I had known who was asking!”

With the single and video now available via the band’s website, gonebydaylight.com, the band is now hitting the live circuit. This Friday, April 4 finds them at Mohegan Sun’s Lansdowne Pub followed by a hometown throwdown at Chicopee’s Maximum Capacity April 18 on a bill that also includes Westfield-based punksters Make The Rules and Jared James Nichols.

The latter of the two openers is an L.A.-based band that has shared stages with Paquette, guitarist Jeff Lynch and the brother-battery of Jordan King on bass and Shanaan King on drums at South By Southwest 2013 and 2014. A recent twin bill with the two bands also sold out The Roxxy on the Sunset Strip.

Last but not least, there will be at least two “doctors” in the house—Saw Doctors, that is —when Leo Moran and Anthony Thistlewaite return to Three Rivers for an intimate acoustic evening at Harmony Hall, the Palmer Historical and Cultural Center April 4.

In addition to both being members of the infamous Irish band of same name, Thistlewaite was also a founding member of seminal folk rock faves The Waterboys.

“They did two shows in last September in Palmer and sold out both,” says Tommy Shea, who is promoting this Friday’s local show under his Shea Stadium Presents banner. “Anto played sax, harmonica, mandolin and guitar… not all at the same time, mind you, but sometimes it seemed like that.”

The Palmer play also has the distinction of being the kickoff show for the duo’s second leg of its North American small venues tour.

Tickets are $25 and must be purchased in advance. To obtain yours, send a check to Tommy Shea, 3057 Palmer Road, Palmer, Mass. 01069 or email sess7@comcast.net for more information.•
