For a lot of people, spring’s arrival calls for dancing. This week, the Lisa Leizman Dance Company, a resident company of the Northampton Center for the Arts, celebrates the long-awaited breakout of an apparently reluctant spring. What’s more, the company gets its springy groove on in the Center for the Arts’ new digs, the Community Arts Trust Building on Northampton’s Hawley Street. The program features old and new works, including the enigmatically named “the secret that bamboo guards.” The accompaniment comes courtesy of Miles Davis, Arvo Part and Dance Company composer-in-residence Andrea Kwapien. The audience is invited to stick around afterward for a reception featuring food cooked by company members.

May 10, 7:30 p.m., $10/general, $5/kids under 10, Northampton Community Arts Trust Building, 33 Hawley St., Northampton, nohoarts.org.
