Here is the video of SEC defensive player of the year Michael Sam—who came out as a gay man to his University of Missouri teammates and coaches last summer before beginning his senior season, and then to the rest of the world this past winter before entering the NFL draft—kissing his boyfriend in celebration of being drafted in the 7th round by the St. Louis Rams. The live video feed was set up by ESPN, who televised the draft this past weekend.

At the time of this post, the video has received almost 3 million hits. A Google search of “Michael Sam kiss” brings up 345 million hits.

As Andrew Sullivan notes: “Football, masculinity, race, and love collide together … It’s a new world.”
