You wouldn’t expect a show its makers describe as “funny, witty, and honest” to be about, as the subtitle explains, “Healing from sexual violence within a culture that encourages it.” But that’s what The World We Live In Is Not The World We Live In aspires to be: not exactly a lighthearted exploration of the nightmare of abuse, but certainly not a heavy-handed one.

The Survivor Project is a group of, yes, survivors who are reaching out to “break the silence” and the isolation that comes with living an experience in a society that’s in deep denial about its prevalence and enduring effects. Blending evocative movement and autobiography with comic skits, poetry and commercial parodies, the show promises to be “engaging, poignant, funny and provocative” and neither graphic “nor one huge bummer.”

June 14, 7:30 p.m., tickets sliding scale, Yoga Sanctuary, Thornes Market, Northampton.
