Music and Memory

Southampton has many a quiet corner, but the grounds of Black Birch Vineyard will be lively on Saturday as the winery hosts a summer concert benefit to raise funds for the Northampton Survival Center. Local food trucks will help to keep visitors fed and watered, but the main event is MarKamusic, a high-energy, multinational musical ensemble — founded in Western Mass in 1999 — performing songs rooted in the traditions of Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Andes. The band, whose name translates from Quechua as “music of the people,” mashes up ancient, modern, aboriginal, and pop styles into something truly unique.

Southampton Summer Concert: Saturday at 6:30 p.m. $10; kids under 12 free. Black Birch Vineyard, 155 Glendale Road, Southampton. northamptonsurvival.org.
