Damn, Pam

Choreographer Pam Tanowitz been garnering ever more attention over the past 15 years for creating new dance techniques and styles that spring from classical dance vocabulary but glitter with abstract shapes and postmodern ideas. Her show at Jacob’s Pillow – featuring the rather eccentric “Heaven on One’s Head,” a love letter to romantic ballets – is full of sharp energy and unpredictable rhythms. The show is accompanied by the New York City-based string ensemble FLUX Quartet, alongside a commissioned electronic score by Dan Siegler.

Pam Tanowitz Dance: Thursday and Friday at 8:15 p.m., Saturday at 2:15 and 8:15 p.m.; Sunday at 2:15 p.m. $25-$45. Doris Duke Theatre, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, 358 George Carter Road, Becket. (413) 243-0745, jacobspillow.org.
