Them, Verses, Us

The Center for New Americans is a non-profit adult education center for the Valley’s immigrant, refugee, and migrant communities, with sites in Northampton, Amherst, Greenfield, and Turners Falls. Those resources are invaluable to many, which is why amateurs and published writers alike spent last month writing a poem a day. For eight years now, the goal of 30 Poems in November has been to raise over $20,000 annually to benefit the center’s family literacy programming.

Some participants share their poems with supporters via an online campaign page. Others offer supporters the opportunity to request a poem on a theme of their choice. Either way, it all culminates in a public reading at the Poetry Center at Smith College next Tuesday.

30 Poems in November: Tuesday, Dec. 13 from 7-8:30 p.m. Smith College, 10 Elm St, Northampton. centerfornewamericans.weebly.com.
