Theater: ‘Shipwrecked!’ You Had Me at Giant Killer Octopus

You Had Me at Giant Killer Octopus

Right now, in Trump’s post-truth America, is an excellent time to stage Shipwrecked! The Amazing Adventures of Louis de Rougemont (as told by himself). The play is based on the grandiose stories of a Victorian huckster who fills in the audience about his time as a castaway in the South Pacific, including anecdotes about a killer octopus, cannibals, and buried treasure. Written by Donald Margulies, Shipwrecked! studies themes of authenticity and loss.

Shipwrecked! The Amazing Adventures of Louis De Rougemont (As Told By Himself): Friday, 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, 2 p.m.; Wednesday, 7:30 p.m. $12-$50. Oldcastle Theatre Company, 331 Main St., Bennington, VT.
