Are You Worthy?

Yes, yes you are — if you’re 21 or over. The Worthy is back, ya’ll, and sudsier than ever for this year’s outdoors craft beer showcase.

The Springfield brewfest, in the city’s most entertaining neighborhood: Worthington Street, is going down Saturday and will feature more than 20 local brewers. Old favorites like Amherst Brewing, Stone Brewing, and Berkshire Brewing Company will be there as well as some newer names: Iron Duke, Vanished Valley, and Greater Good. Get a sample of them more pricey beers by Von Trapp and Ballast Point for cheap!

Anyone with a six pack … in the fridge … knows that beer is the perfect companion to outdoor eats like BBQ (from Theodores), raw oysters, and cupcakes – just some of the foods you can get at the fest. Music and vendors will also be part of the fun with reps from Cigar Room II in Agawam and Beerology in Northampton setting up temporary shop.

The new twist for this year’s event is a Homebrewers Competition. The winner will get their beer brewed on the Amherst Brewing system next year. Some of the competitors include an oatmeal RyePA, a Hawaiian saison, a cream ale, and a hell of a lot of IPAs.

Tickets are $45 at the door ($20 for designated drivers) and include all the beer tasting you can handle, a tasting glass, and bands. If you want food or anything else, though, bring cash. There will be no ATMs. Recommended parking is in the Taylor Street lot or the lot on the corner of Worthington and Columbus streets.
