A graphic designer by trade, Ashfield resident Elizabeth Keyes creates fabric art inspired by her surroundings—woods, dirt roads and extensive vegetable gardens—and classical and gypsy jazz music.
“Starting points for a piece may come from patterns and textures of the gardens, from first green shoots to the tangle of withered vines and seed-heads,” said Keyes, “or the play of light in the woods, both subtle and startling.”
Keyes’ sewn and embroidered small-format quilts (including “Cliff Dwellers,” pictured) are featured in Stitches On & Off the Land: Fabric Art by Elizabeth Keyes.
