Due to the controversy unfolding in Northampton regarding a proposed local marijuana fine ordinance I thought I’d look around the web for some other sources of information on the issue.

Ballot Pedia has the complete text of this year’s Proposition 19 in California. The Regulate, Control, and Tax Cannabis Act of 2010 will be before California voters November 2.
According to another page on Ballot Pedia, California Proposition 19, if successful, will:
- Allows adults 21 years and older to possess, cultivate, or transport cannabis for personal use
- Permits local governments to regulate and tax commercial production and sale of cannabis to adults 21 years and older
- Prohibits people from possessing cannabis on school grounds, using it in public, smoking it when minors are present, or providing it to anyone under 21
- Maintains current prohibitions against driving while impaired
- Has no impact on current medical cannabis laws, taxes, or quantities. Does not increase taxes or reduce quantities for medical cannabis patients.
- Does not prohibit employers from drug testing
