The 2010 Dog Licenses are now available in the City Clerk’s Office in Northampton. The fees for licensing dogs will be:
Neutered Male/Spayed Female Dogs-$5.00
Unneutered Male/Unspayed Female Dogs-$15.00
All dogs six months old or over are required to be licensed by April 1. A valid current rabies certificate and proof of spaying or neutering must be provided.
Please note that beginning May 1st and on each succeeding month, weekends and holidays excluded, the owner or keeper of any dog owned or kept with the City, who has not obtained the required license, shall be assessed an administrative late charge of five dollars ($5.00) for each and every month that the dog remains unlicensed, in addition to the dog license fee. All such fees must be paid before a license can be issued for any subsequent year. However, in no case shall the owner or keeper be assessed late charges for a period exceeding eleven (11) months in the aggregate. Per city ordinance section 128-8(d).
A dog license may be purchased by mail if you are unable to come in person. Please include $1.20 for Postage and Handling in your check (PLEASE NO STAMPED SELF-ADDRESSED ENVELOPES), the appropriate license fee and a valid current rabies certificate and mail to:
City Clerk’s Office, 210 Main Street-Rm 4, Northampton, MA 01060-3148. If this license is not a renewal, please send, in addition to the above, owner’s name, address, telephone number, dog’s name, age, breed, color(s), gender. Please also enclose proof of spaying or neutering. All certificates will be returned.
