Glendale Road property owner (and keeper of horses), Mike Fedora, toured me around his land which happens to sit adjacent to the Northampton landfill. Mike said that when he bought his parcel thirty years ago that the aquifer tributary which feeds into Hannum Brook was crystal clear and that his horses had fresh water to drink throughout the year. That is not the case as of today. Additionally, noise from the new methane burner has also become an issue as you’ll soon hear. Finally, though the proposed landfill expansion has the potential to further impact the aquifer tributary and Hannum Brook, apparently Northampton’s Conservation Commission has not visited the site nor has a role to play in the proposed expansion, according to Mr. Fedora.
