In her 40 years as a photographer, Lynn Goldsmith has experienced a world closed off to most: the backstage lives of rock ‘n’ roll stars. Her behind-the-scenes portraits of musical legends such as David Bowie, the Beatles, Tom Petty and Bob Dylan have been published in Rolling Stone, Life, Newsweek and Elle, and some of her work is in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian and the Museum of Modern Art. This summer the Hallmark Museum of Contemporary Photography’s new exhibit, Rock and Roll, brings Goldsmith’s iconic images to the Valley.
June 19-Sept. 21, reception: Sept. 13, 1-5 p.m., Gallery 56, Hallmark Museum of Contemporary Photography, 56 Ave. A, Turners Falls, (413) 863-0009, www.hmcp.org.
