The used to call journalism the Fourth Estate. I guess now we’ll have to call it the fourth branch of the Bush Unitary Executive. Seems one of the guys who broke the warrantless surveillance story has now been served with a subpoena for his truly heroic efforts.
Jim Risen clearly didn’t get the memo about never harming Dear Leader. It’s a bad day for all American journalists–this is the product of an overzealous Attorney General doing Bush’s bidding instead of looking out for actual justice. Clearly, investigative journalists have been warned. Ah well. Let’s watch TV.
