Today brings a small victory for those of us who’ve maintained that there was more than ample fishiness in the results of the 2004 presidential election in Ohio. Robert Kennedy, Jr., in a Rolling Stone article, did a very fine job of laying out the many problems, from too few machines in black precincts to a mysterious "level 10" terrorism alert that somehow required counting behind closed doors. It’s a horrifying read that should not be missed if you haven’t given it a gander yet. The right to vote is deeply endangered, November results notwithstanding.
Today brings this news:
CLEVELAND (AP) — Two election workers in the state’s most populous county were convicted Wednesday of illegally rigging the 2004 presidential election recount so they could avoid a more thorough review of the votes.
The article goes on to say no one was claiming this might have changed the election results. But of course, a handful of such instances might be a different story. And even in this instance, a real recount was (criminally) thwarted, so who knows what might have been discovered?
I guess the Right will say the judge, jury and prosecutor are all conspiracy nuts. Or Left-wing bloggers.
