Out There

Wendell may be a truly tiny town — its population was 848 as of the last Census — but its quiet, down-to-earth demeanor is belied by occasional bursts of otherwordly art-making. Case in point: the library’s current exhibition by Pennsylvania surralist painter Georgeanne Jud, who works in vivid colors and energetic layers of light (as in ”Blue Goddess,” pictured here). Jud, who works in oil on canvas, wooden triptychs, and watercolors, cites Vincent Van Gogh and Marc Chagall as major influences in her journey to “create movement, energy, myth, symbol and story.”
