Yidstock

This festival of new Yiddish music is a four-day celebration of Klezmer, a rollicking traditional Jewish music that usually features someone who can make a clarinet wail like the thing’s on fire. Bands rocking Yidstock this year include the Frank London-Merlin Shepherd Group, Paul Shapiro’s Ribs and Brisket Revue, the Klezmer Conservatory Band, The Klezmatics, Sklamberg and the Shepherds, and The Eleanor Reissa Trio. Along with the music, the festival boasts workshops and talks such as Yiddish Dance 101, Rockin’ the Shtetl, Nigunim, and workshops on writing songs, playing music, and singing.

Yidstock: July 14-17. Tickets available for individual shows, talks, and workshops, $5-$48. yiddishbookcenter.org/yidstock.
