The Greening Greenfield Energy Committee and the Greening Greenfield 10 Percent Challenge co-sponsor a unique road race. The rules are simple: contestants must drive their vehicles the 100 miles from Greenfield to Boston on the amount of energy in one gallon of gasoline. The time limit is three hours. The cars will then be displayed at Boston's Greenfest, Aug. 21-22, with a placard stating both the miles driven and the energy used in a miles per gallon equivalent. You can see the cars at Greenfield Park before they race.

Car show: Aug. 19, 4-6 p.m.; send-off: Aug. 20, 10 a.m.-noon, Miles Street Parking Lot, Fiske Ave., Greenfield, (413) 774-5667, www.moonbeamplans.com
