Westfield Winter Farmers Market • Saturday
It’s winter, a time of year when produce that hasn’t spent half its life on a truck, train, or plane is hard to find. Fortunately, the Valley has plenty of winter farmers markets. Westfield will have a winter market Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Episcopal Church on Court Street. Local vendors will be selling winter vegetables and squash, jams and jellies, pickles, relishes, soaps and oils, baked goods and sweets. Plus crafters! — Kristin Palpini
Jim Breuer & the Loud and Rowdy • Thurs., Dec. 15
Jim Breuer’s love of heavy metal features prominently in his comedy and you get the sense that he’s always sort of wanted to be in a band. Well, now he’s making his dream come true. He and “dad-thrashers” the Loud and Rowdy released a metal/comedy album Songs from the Garage (on Metal Blade Records, no less) earlier this year and they’ve taken it on the road. When Breuer comes to The Iron Horse next Thursday, it’s sure to be loud and rowdy, alright … and hilarious. 7-9:30 p.m. Iron Horse Music Hall, 20 Center St., Northampton. NBOtickets.com. $23 — Hunter Styles
Dinosaur Jr. at MASS MoCA • Saturday
Dinosaur Jr. has been a staple in my music collection for nearly half my life now, from cassette, to CD, and now on my digital playlist. They’ve been consistently awesome for 30 years they’re still going strong — maybe even stronger than ever. But to my shame, I’ve never seen them live. I’ll be righting that wrong this Saturday. 8-10 p.m. MASS MoCA, 1040 MASS MoCA Way, North Adams. Massmoca.org. $28 — Peter Vancini
