Fans of Wilco can get a healthy dose of the band (and related side projects) when it comes to the Valley this summer for the Wilco Solid Sound Festival, but the roster includes plenty that’s of musical interest besides the roots rock staple. In fact, the latest addition to the lineup is also a staple, Mavis Staples of Staples Singers fame, to be exact.
The three-day fest is a sprawling extravaganza and even includes a comedy stage, where you can check out Todd Barry, Kristen Schaal, Hannibal Buress and John Mulaney. The musical lineup includes Avi Buffalo, Vetiver, Sir Richard Bishop, Mountain Man, Brenda, The Books, and the Deep Blue Organ Trio. Drama will be in effect with Vermont’s puppet troupe Bread and Puppet. Story Pirates offer creative writing, drama workshops and sketch comedy for kids, and interactive musical experiences will be available in MASS MoCA installations. The festival is also the only East Coast Wilco appearance this summer.
Aug. 13-15, $99.50, MASS MoCA courtyard, 1040 MASS MoCA Way, North Adams, (413) MoCA 111, massmoca.org.
