The historic Chapin Auditorium is the largest indoor performance space at Mount Holyoke College. The auditorium can be found inside Mary Woolley Hall, set amid Mount Holyoke's rolling greens, artfully designed quads and picturesque red stone buildings.

A classically designed space built in 1916 with seating for over 1,000 and two balcony levels, the hall is home to Mount Holyoke College's spring concerts and popular shows. Originally built as a music hall, it has played host to performances by choirs, orchestras and stage acts, including luminaries like Kanye West, Medeski, Martin and Wood and the ever-pithy political and musical satirists Capitol Steps.

Other events, often sponsored by local UMass-Amherst NPR affiliate WFCR, have featured lecturers, authors and radio personalities, including the prolific Stephen King and Minnesota mumbler Prarie Home Companion host Garrison Keillor.

The 32nd annual Deutsches Theaterfest (German Theatre Festival and Competition), an all-day event, takes place on April 30 from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Chapin, in which 15-minute dramatic presentations will be judged in competition by the college's Department of German Studies."

Chapin Auditorium is located at Mount Holyoke College, 50 College Street in South Hadley. For more info, call (413) 538-2459 or visit www.nems.mtholyoke.edu.
