Our wedding was a magical evening—truly “us,” from start to finish. Held at Blossoming Acres Farm and Bakery, Southwick, where I had worked for years, the greenhouse ceremony was officiated by my uncle and followed by the reception in the bakery. The owner, a few friends and I spent a month decorating the entire place. Jon’s aunt performed the song she sang at his parent’s wedding just two days shy of their twenty-fifth anniversary. My dress was a vintage find, thanks to the ladies at Ultra Gal of Northampton and their great Fantasy Closet. The groomsmen’s shirts came from the Mercantile in Amherst. Months later, everyone is still raving about the food from Myer’s Catering in Northampton. We crammed more than 80 people in that night. We served fresh pie and ice cream, along with the Bakery’s signature cider donuts made from cider from Bashista’s Orchard of Southampton. Also from Bashista’s was a case of Granny Smith apples with gold paper leaves that displayed guests’ names and seating arrangements. Photographer Andrea Burns and her lovely mother blended into the entire day as close friends and captured every rehearsed and unplanned moment. I really felt at the end of it all our vision had come true: our personalities and our Pioneer Valley shined bright that winter night and our friends and family were closer to us just for being there. I am sincerely grateful to all of them.
