On Sunday, the Puerto Rican Cultural Center hosts the city’s 2013 Puerto Rican Parade.

The parade kicks off at noon at Watson Avenue and Main Street, with marchers heading down Main to Boland Way—but get there a little early for a good spot, especially since, as the organizers point out, traffic in the area will be restricted as the parade gets ready to start.

The parade boasts two grand marshals: journalist and social justice activist Natalia Muñoz and Manuel Frau, a photographer and editor of El Sol Latino.

And, with Election Day just a couple of months away—and, more significant, the preliminary election for the Ward 1 City Council seat coming up on Tuesday—you can be sure city politicians will be there in force as well (including Ernesto Cruz, a candidate for one of the Council’s at-large seats, who’s the parade coordinator).
