"Higgins could have moved to re-prioritize the project, which would have slowed
it down and allowed more discussion, but she took the either-or
approach and, after we all spoke, simply voted to approve the RTP
without amendment."-Mary Serreze, March 6, 2007

MORE THAN 1,000 TO MARCH OVER GLOBAL WARMING
Organizers announced Tuesday an eight-day interfaith walk from
Northampton to Boston that is being billed as "a moral call for
individuals, businesses and government to reduce global warming gas
emissions 80 percent by 2050." The walk will occur between March 16
and March 24 and is expected to involve state lawmakers and mayors,
according to organizers. Churches and synagogues along the walk route
will host interfaith services, programs and a climate fair in
Worcester. Among the groups behind the event are the First Church
Unitarian in Littleton, Religious Witness for the Earth, the
Massachusetts Conference United Church of Christ, Old South Church,
and the Grace Episcopal Church in Amherst. The umbrella group behind
the one-time event is Interfaith Walk for Climate Rescue. According
to organizers, public officials who plan to take part in local events
include Sens. Stanley Rosenberg, Edward Augustus and Harriette
Chandler and Northampton Mayor Clare Higgins.

A moral call for swift, bold, and comprehensive political action
to address global warming

2006 was the turning point for public awareness of global warming.

2007 must be the turning point for action.

Author and activist Bill McKibben invites you to join the Interfaith Walk for Climate Rescue, Northampton to Boston, March 16-24, 2007. Read his letter here.

You can walk for an hour, an afternoon, a weekend, or the whole nine days. You can walk as an individual, a family, or a team from your community, school, or congregation. You can be of any faith or none.

We’ll call for swift, bold, and comprehensive political action to address global warming. By the time we get to Boston on Saturday, March 24, we expect the largest global warming demonstration in the history of the United States.

Don’t miss this opportunity to make climate change history.

Blessings,
