Country Home magazine’s April 2007 issue has apparently named Springfield the nation’s fourth most eco-friendly city, behind Burlington, Ithaca and Corvallis, Oregon. Wenatchee, Washington came in fifth.

The list includes 379 metropolitan areas in a "Best Green Places" survey, news initially reported by Burlington’s Channel 3.

The Country Home issue focuses on "green living," including "the innovations, trends, products, and people who are leading the way to a cleaner, greener tomorrow," the magazine says in its March table of contents teaser.

Burlington’s understandably excited about being named number one. It’s pretty great that Springfield is in the top five. Maybe folks here could generate a little press on this.
