A meeting about possible public school uniform policy is apparently taking place tomorrow, Wednesday, May 9, 5:00 pm at the Meline Kasparian Professional Development Center at 60 Alton Street.

According to Marla Goldberg’s reporting in today’s Republican, "[T]he Student Uniform Ad-Hoc Subcommittee has invited school principals and parent-teacher organization presidents" to this meeting. School Committee member Antonette Pepe is quoted as saying, "The principals definitely want them in all the schools."

If there is any opposition to this idea we are not hearing about it yet. The article essentially soundly endorses uniforms, with quotes from various students saying how their lives are improved by the experience of wearing them. I’m a reluctant supporter of uniforms myself, but the article makes it sound as though there’s nothing to question here. Is there?
