Blogging in a jumpsuit, uh-huh

There is an intriguing phenomenon afoot. (Though a foot is not a phenomenon.) What I mean is that, though blogs are as readily contracted as athlete’s foot (another phenomenon entirely), there is a particular brand of anonymous wordslinger who prefers the exhilarating freedom of the "subblog"–that is, the art of couching a blog entry in the relative safety of the comment section.
This is a practice, perhaps, best employed by those who, if they were Elvis impersonators, would like the jumpsuit but be a little shy on the public karate kicks.
