Let’s all celebrate independence from a man who wouldn’t listen to his people, who put profit and empire above the well-being of citizens, who thought he ruled by divine right and was above any law.

The colonials were self-sufficient people who took rule by the people seriously, who took up arms to remove the burden of the odious King George. We once were revolutionaries, and once were driven by courage instead of fear. Is the spirit of 1776 stuck in an attic somewhere?

It’s good to be American, but not if we forget how our nation was born.
