Dear Community Member,
Today marks anniversary number six for the Paradise City Forum. At Paradise City Forum’s main website is available a Word document containing the most current State of the Forum report.
Highlights include statistics regarding the growth and use of the Yahoo listserv. 2007 has seen 1,144 entries to date and I project that by the end of the year more entries will have been logged in 2007 than from 2001-2006 combined. The main website has also experienced significant growth, from 450 gross hits at its inception in January 2006 to more than 10,300 gross hits in October 2007. This greater than twenty fold increase in web traffic in a twenty-two month period has occurred without commercial advertising. Since I became Moderator in April 2003 membership has grown from about 140 subscribers to about 250 today, or about an 80% increase. In the less than two years since the Advisory Committee began asking for financial contributions members have donated $1,070 for PCF sustenance and there is currently cash on hand of about $650.
Finally, as of January 1, 2008 I will be concluding my tenure both as Moderator and as a member of the PCF Advisory Committee. After six years of active involvement and as one of the original Forum organizers I have decided to step aside in order for others to have an opportunity to serve the community in a like fashion and to pursue outside interests. In the next few months my day to day responsibilities will be delegated to the other volunteer members of the Advisory Committee. Of course I will remain as a contributor and will be available for consultation on issues related both to the PCF as well as for community organizing in general.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the creation of the PCF and who has contributed to its growth into a viable and ongoing community enterprise. All of the personal conversations, meetings, phone calls and emails through the years have helped shape the PCF, for better or worse, into what it is today. The future course of the PCF now rests both on the current members of the AC and on you, the individual member.
