Though I hope to soon fill this space with a fuller review, let’s just start things off by saying this is, as you might expect from an album of outtakes, uneven. I think these guys are extremely talented, and I don’t want or mean to hold an outtake album up to an overly glaring critical light–after all, this is the stuff they didn’t release the first time around. There are, as you’d expect, a couple of real gems. Then there are some wandering, strange tunes that don’t seem fully realized. If you haven’t checked it out, go to birdwaves.com and give it a spin.
