Sibel Edmonds, a former FBI translator, says she could put many Bush insiders behind bars. Plus a few non-Bushies, it turns out. If you don’t know who Edmonds is, you should find out. Her story is quite involved, so rather than tell it all, I’ll go with the very short version and offer some links.
Edmonds says she discovered through her translation work in 2002 that many big names in Washington were involved in the selling of nuclear secrets, which, through Turkish contacts, were apparently making it all the way to Pakistan and from there to God knows where. She claims there’s even more, including some truly damning stuff beyond even that. Sounds nutty? Well, her claims have so far withstood all attempts at verification, and she’s testified to Congress. Unfortunately, John Ashcroft slapped her down with the State Secrets privilege, preventing her from testifying further. Not even Rep. Waxman, often a stalwart investigator, will give her the time of day anymore.
Edmonds recently offered to defy the State Secrets privilege to give her full info to whatever mainstream American media source would run with it. No takers. Yesterday, she began spilling the beans to the UK Sunday Times. And today she’s posted at her site a "State Secrets Privilege Gallery" with 21 photos, starting with Richard Perle and Douglas Feith. It’s probably safe to assume these 21 are the guilty parties. This could get huge. We could have actual, real, verifiable treason going on.
