Dear Property Owner,

Concerning our preliminary studies for the subject project in the City of Northampton, it will be necessary for our engineers or representatives to enter upon your property at …………. for the purposes of preliminary survey for data collection. The data collected will help us in developing the Exit 19 improvement project, which will address congestion and safety issues at this interchange.

Chapter 81, Section 7F of the General Laws, authorizes agents and employees of the Massachusetts Highway Department, after due notice by Registered or Certified Mail, to enter upon private property, excluding buildings, for the purposes of making surveys, soundings, drillings and examinations deemed necessary for the highway planning purposes.

The work scheduled at this time should take approximately eight to twelve weeks for the entire project. Actual time spent on your property should be less than a day.
