To commemorate the 304th anniversary of the Deerfield raid of 1704, Historic Deerfield and the Pocumtuck Valley Memorial Association (P.V.M.A.) host the 1704 Colonial Encampment Weekend, Feb. 29?March 2. The three-day event includes family activities, tours, lectures and historical demonstrations and reenactments of the raid, featuring some 50 volunteers acting out the scenes. "We are committed to telling all the different perspectives—English, French and Native—on this pivotal event in New England history," says Tim Neumann, executive director of the P.V.M.A.
