Congrats, spineless Democrats! You’ve taken the clamoring calls from all Americans to let Bush spy on us even more and to forgive the phone companies for helping him spy, and you’ve kept it real! Congratulations, especially, on the part of the bill that says if Bush asks you to do something and writes down that it’s legal, then it’s legal! That’s so cool! It’s like Nixon, only you have to write it down!
Also, good work on that compromise! Funny how compromise only means one thing: the Republicans vote for something en masse, and a few wretched Democrats get all scared of being called "soft on terrorism" and go along! So much for all that bitter partisan rancor!
I’m a little bit angry, I suppose. But me, I believed in all that Constitution stuff. I guess I’m just a pre-Sept. 11 kind of guy. But why worry? Everything’s just fine, as long as you have nothing to hide, right? Now where did I leave those jackboots?
