Forget oscilloscopes or iTunes visualizers—regional artist Nick Zammuto has combined the aural and visual in a way that would make even David Bowie proud. Beginning Saturday, Williams College Museum of Art presents Zammuto’s new gallery installation: Laser Show: Six Perspectives on a Chaotic Resonator. The exhibition consists of a flexible mirror that vibrates in response to subsonic sounds, reflecting six laser-points of light onto a screen where the waves form shapes that constantly morph and “evolve.” The result is a sort of visual music; the artist/musician has said of the project, “I think of my work as an exercise in tuning.” Zammuto also co-founded the band The Books and recently composed the score for a feature documentary about Arizona’s Biosphere 2 project.
Through Sept. 14. Artists’s Talk July 22, 2 p.m., Williams College Museum of Art, 15 Lawrence Hall Drive number 2, Williamstown, (413) 597-3178, www.wcma.org.
