Painter and sculptor Trace Meek migrated from his native Atlanta to Western Mass. when he was 22. After a brief stab at farming, Meek devoted himself to art, delving into Web design (which eventually became just another artistic medium for him).

His vibrant paintings exploit whimsical color combinations, and his portraits’ subjects often wear a vague and knowing smirk. Commissioned to install various works around the Valley, including murals on the walls of Bueno y Sano in Northampton and Rao’s Coffee in Amherst, Meek has produced work that is familiar to folks in the Valley, whether they know it or not. His new exhibit includes both paintings and sculptural work.
