How Much is That Art in the Window?

The hills of Berkshire County have long been treasured for their beauty. Unfortunately, towns and cities throughout the county have suffered from record high unemployment and poverty. But a type of renaissance has helped resurrect the failing economies of the region. Pittsfield, a town that had the carpet pulled out from underneath it by General Electric, has in recent years become a stopping point on the “Cultural Corridor” for artists traveling from New York City to Vermont or Boston. Peter Dudek and Geoffrey Young have seen this and, in grand American fashion, are capitalizing on it. The Storefront Artist Project brings together 16 artists from in and around Berkshire County (including Jeff Caramagna, whose work is pictured) and presents their art in a casual and accessible setting.
