Shut down the main street and bust out the victuals—here’s a town that knows how to party. Beginning at 3 p.m. with a parade that includes dogs, dancing zombies, a roller disco corps and the Lawn Chair Brigade, the 2nd Annual Turners Falls Block Party (not unlike The Love Boat) promises something for everyone. Food and drink from local eateries are featured alongside community tables, and the event’s primary sponsor, Turners Falls RiverCulture, promises an open fire hydrant for the sweaty tenement dweller or urban frogman in all of us. Live entertainment includes bands such as The Amity Front (pictured) and Andrew Jones and Spirit House, as well as “acoustic gypsy thrash” from The Vaudevillains and a dash of comedy and polka accordion courtesy of The Fabulous Maurice. The only thing missing: a full-on Snuffleupagus.
