Perhaps one of the greatest powerpop/rock bands that, by all rights, should have gone global, The Figgs have written dozens of pop gems and even a legendary tale of music industry struggles. Navigating two decades of lineup changes, multiple record labels and several brushes with mega-fame and fortune, the Saratoga Springs-spawned rockers deserve medals for even just staying together, never mind continuing to put out top-notch material and staging shows whose intensity hasn't diminished by a kilowatt since the band's inception. Pair this with the bill-sharing band Harper, which features former NRBQ drummer Tommy Ardolino, and you've got what could spell the Valley's best Labor Day Weekend show. (Bonus for you smokers and/or stargazers: one need not sweat that silly "must be inside by 1 a.m. or get locked out" business; it doesn't apply in Easthampton.)

Aug. 30, 10 p.m., The Brass Cat, 65 Cottage St., Easthampton, (413) 527-4085.
