Well, let’s hope so, Baryshnikov, because the latest conception of Northampton’s two-woman dance company, Slipperyfish, appears to require some audience participation. The 24 Hour Dance consists of an evening wherein audience members and performers alike are taught live, instructive choreography by emcees Ariel Gonzalez Cohen and Kellie Ann Lynch, to be performed the next evening (24 hours later). The event also includes work by special guest performer/choreographer Meredith Lyons. Slipperyfish’s experimental style typically regards the boundaries of the proscenium stage as loose, permeable borders through which immigration (and emigration) are encouraged, and with their energy levels it may be difficult even for the two-left-footed to resist the temptation. Reservations for the performance(s) are recommended.
Sept. 13, 8 p.m.; Sept. 14, 7 p.m., $12, Northampton Center for the Arts, 17 New South St., Northampton, (413) 584-7327.
