In Eddy Hougen’s collection of portraits entitled Eye of the Storm: 20 Paintings from New Orleans, faces might be bright blue, noses strangely long, and eyes misaligned Picasso-style. Hougen’s unconventional use of color and proportion seems to lend unique insight into the essential character of his subjects.
