Just to clear this up: Mississippi Jon Short seems to be neither from Mississippi nor particularly short. It's also clear that the accidentally perfect imprecision of prewar Delta blues can't really be replicated, no matter one's provenance or altitude.
Nonetheless, Short has clearly studied the compelling details of the masters' acoustic stylings enough to give a go to bringing their brand of stomping, sliding cool to life. He's aided in his resurrection of the style by a National steel guitar, a suitcase bass drum, kazoo and ukulele. Short plies his trade all over the U.S. and Europe, and offers school programs to spread the blues word, too.
