Although Kevin Bacon has been in an almost absurd number of movies—Mystic River, Hollow Man, The Woodsman, Wild Things, Sleepers, Murder in the First, Apollo 13, A Few Good Men, Flatliners and Tremors, to name a few—it's impossible to forget his performance in one of his first, Footloose. Bacon played the fancy-footed rebel Ren McCormack, who shook up a sleepy Bible-belt town when he and his mom moved there from Chicago. Ren and his new friends—Willard and the preacher's daughter, Ariel—spend the movie battling the preacher's "no dancing" edict against a backdrop of legendary songs, including "Let's Hear It for the Boy," "Almost Paradise," "Holding Out for a Hero," and the title song, "Footloose."
This week, Footloose, the Musical, featuring frisky footwork and those well-loved songs, comes to Springfield as part of its 10th anniversary tour.
