Over on South Street in Northampton, the Northampton Community Music Center is busy helping people, many of them kids, learn how to make music. The NCMC scholarship fund helps that happen for as many people as possible. The school offers all kinds of classes on all kinds of instruments, and features instruction in the Suzuki method.

This week, the scholarship fund gets a pleasant boost when Elizabeth Mitchell and Daniel Littleton (pictured), from the indie band Ida, join forces with their daughter Storey and violinist Jean Cook to make music for kids and adults. The show is presented by WRSI and its kids' music show, Spare the Rock, Spoil the Child.

The concert happens Saturday, Feb. 21 at 2 p.m. at the Northampton Community Music Center, 139 South St., Northampton, (413) 585-0001, www.ncmc.net. Tickets are $5.
