The ornate interior of Sage Hall at Smith College has echoed the performances of skilled musicians, actors and artists since its construction in 1924. The hall houses the college's Music Department and includes numerous classrooms, practice spaces and even a recording studio.

At night, however, when Sage Hall's classrooms are dimmed, the building really comes to life. Sage Hall is home to two of the most sought-after performance spaces on campus.

Sweeney Concert Hall (pictured) is a grand, spacious hall that seats over 600. The large stage can comfortably fit an entire orchestra, but often hosts solo performers as well. The space was renovated in 1989, and now has the acoustics to deliver quality sound whether the performance involves chamber ensembles, solo recitals, or plays and musicals.

This month the concert hall hosts the Music in the Noon Hour Concert Series on April 14 and the Jazz and Wind Ensembles' Spring Concert on April 27.

Earle Recital Hall is a smaller performance hall that seats up to 120. Intended for more intimate performances, the stage often hosts student recitals and small to medium ensembles.

The recital hall offers a number of performances this month, including the play Dance, Salome, Dance! on April 9, the Student Composers' Concert on April 18, and the Spring Ensemble Gamelan Concert on April 22.

You'll find Sage Hall at 144 Green St. in Northampton. For concert info, call (413) 585-ARTS or visit www.smith.edu/smitharts.
